UNREFINED PASSION

UNREFINED PASSION

I've met a lot of passionate people about their calling, gifts, and God's purpose for their lives.

While passion is a good thing, it's key to not only move with passion. It's germane to refine your gifts and passion.

Unrefined passion will lead you to do things in an unrefined way.

For you to be effective at fulfilling the purpose and calling of God for your life, you need to be refined and trained.

Moses was passionate about delivering the Israelites. They had been slaves before he was born.

His effectual calling was to deliver them but he was driven by his innate and unrefined passion at the age of 40, killing an Egyptian.

While we may argue it was not his time, I believe he was going about it unrefined.

God had to take him through the process of refinement for 40 years. He worked for his father-in-law as a Shepherd for 40 years, where he learned so many leadership skills.

Paul as well had a passion for religion. There was a passion in him for people to do what he considered right (Acts 22:3-4).

Unknown to him, he had been persecuting the people who would later serve alongside. As soon as Jesus met with him, he had to be refined for his calling through the ministry of Ananias. This was how Saul which means "the destroyer" became Paul, which means "humble".

I know you are gifted and passionate but would you rather fulfill your calling or use your gifts refined or unrefined?

So, how do you refine your gifts?

1. You must commit to study: There are principles you need to learn in that sphere of influence God has called you into. To be ignorant of those principles is to use your gifts unrefined.

2. You must be mentored: One of the ways God helps us is to put a model of where He has taking us ahead of us, so we can submit, learn and follow.

3. You must understand the seasons of your life and be patient in your transition between seasons

4. Allow the Holy Spirit to rule your heart and work on your mindset.

5. Work and walk in love for God and people.

I hope this has helped you?

I believe in you.

Picture an eagle in a cage. No matter how beautiful the cage is, the eagle was not designed to live in a cage. It was designed to soar on the highest heights and mountains with courage and flair. No matter the lure of the cage, it can never surpass the freedom of the eagle soaring in all expanse of the skies in all of its glories and strength. Like the eagle trapped, too many brilliant, gifted, called individuals are trapped in the cage of careers they were not designed for. They can never command their true worth and value, they can only eat the crumbs they are being fed by their captors. The lure of salaries and pennies that will never satisfy keeps them in such cages. They would rather remain in the rat race than take the risks for their freedom and glory. The Bible says, "If the Son (Jesus) sets you free, you will be free indeed." - John 8:36 As a child of God, you can break free! You were not designed to be caged! Any job that does not give you the freedom to express your gifts, talents and calling is a cage. One of the biggest graveyards of purpose I see is this graveyard of unfulfilling careers. People get jobs only for the sake of earning, rather than fulfilling their life's calling and pursuing what matters to them. But here's the truth: The careers you were not designed for will not satisfy you. They will leave you with voids and emptiness. At the end of your career, you would lack true legacy, influence and impact. Your time to break free is now. I believe in you. Dr Samuel Ekundayo
