I LOST SOMETHING PRECIOUS TO ME

It was 2 am in the morning. I had just finished studying. I was going to pick up my car to head back home to get some sleep. I got to where I parked and my car was gone.

I was shocked! It was like a dream.

This was right in the heart of the CBD (Central Business District) in Auckland, New Zealand - not somewhere else notorious for car thefts. I could not believe my eyes. I started looking underneath other cars as if I was looking for a needle. It was as though I was losing my sanity; as though I was losing my mind. I ran to both ends of the street and I could not find anything like it - not even a car of the same colour. It started to dawn on me that my car had been stolen but I could not get myself to believe it.

See, the car was so precious to me. I was a fee-paying student and it was the very first car I could afford. I mean, able to purchase with my own money - my sweat. I bought it for $700. It was a 1995 Mazda Familia. I washed it every day because of what it meant to me. I called it my baby and not only that, I had a name for it - FAITH - because I had a unique experience before I could get it. I was convinced it was a precious gift from God and I treated it so.

And all of sudden, it's gone.

I was shattered.

For weeks, I could not study. It was like a tragedy had just happened. I could not concentrate on work. Anytime I see a car of the same model and colour, I was quick to fasten my eyes on my plate number, maybe it was my car.

That was May 2012. I lost something precious to me - Faith, my beloved car.

I write this piece for someone that has lost something precious. Mine was a car, yours could be worse than a car - maybe a loved one, maybe your job, maybe your marriage, maybe your life-savings - and because of that, you've lost all hope. You've given up completely on life. You're no longer trying because you just can't seem to find a reason to continue and it appears you're just on an emotional roller coaster ever since. It's like losing an anchor and nothing to hold on to.

Listen to me, there is hope for you even after all you've lost. If you've got hope, you have got everything. There is a God in heaven that can restore all you've lost. How do I know this? He said in His words, "And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm..." [Joel 2:25]. I love the fact that the scripture did not stop there, it continued in verse 26, "You will have plenty to eat until you are full, and you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed."

I want to pray for you, God will restore all that you have lost. Hope will find you. You will rejoice again and will have no cause to be ashamed or downcast again in Jesus mighty name.

Why am I sharing this?

God also changed my story.

I have since bought several cars after that - even better ones.

For all that you lost, God will give you even better. If you believe it, say a big Amen!

I believe in you.

Looking at my life today, some might assume I was born with a golden spoon in my mouth. They see the progress, the platforms, the opportunities, the impact—and they conclude, “He must have had it all figured out from the start.” But here’s the truth... I wasn’t born with a golden spoon. In fact, I wasn’t even born with a spoon at all. The circumstances surrounding my birth were far from rosy. My beginning was rough, humble, and almost forgettable by the standards of this world. There was nothing to suggest that I would one day stand where I stand today, speak as I speak today, or do what I do today. But I was helped. I was helped by God. That’s the only reason I’ve come this far. And that, dear friend, is why I’m writing this—to remind you that it doesn’t matter where or how you were born . Your background, no matter how limiting or disadvantaged, cannot stop God’s plan for your life. You may not have had the best education. You may have been born into poverty. You may have been rejected, neglected, abandoned or overlooked. But when God steps into your life , He rewrites the story. He is not intimidated by your limitations. In fact, He specializes in using the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. He lifts the poor from the dust and sets them among princes (Psalm 113:7-8). You don’t need a silver spoon, golden spoon, or any spoon at all. All you need is His help . My life is a testament to this truth: God still helps men. He still lifts. He still promotes. He still turns nobodies into wonders. And I believe the same will happen for you. If you will let Him, If you will trust Him, If you will surrender your life to Him… You will become a miracle. You will become a wonder. Your story will be one that generations will talk about. So here’s my charge to you: Stop disqualifying yourself based on your background. Stop underestimating what God can do through you. Stop comparing your journey with someone else’s. Instead, start seeking God’s help. Start walking in faith. Start declaring His promises over your life. Because your story—yes, YOUR story—is not over yet. In fact, it’s just beginning. You are next in line for a miracle. I believe in you!
